The problem may also involve the\nvestibular nerve. This is the nerve between the inner ear and the brain stem.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Peripheral vertigo may be caused\nby:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>&nbsp;Benign paroxysmal\npositional vertigo (BPPV)<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Certain medicines, such as&nbsp;cisplatin,\naminoglycoside antibiotics,salicylates or diuretics<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Injury (such as head injury)<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Inflammation of the vestibular\nnerve&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Irritation and swelling of the\ninner ear&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Pressure on the vestibular\nnerve, usually from a noncancerous tumor such as a meningioma or schwannoma.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>2. Central vertigo:-It occurs\ndue to a problem in&nbsp;the brain, usually in the back part of the brain\n(cerebellum) or brain stem.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Central vertigo may be caused\nby:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Blood vessel disease<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Certain drugs, such as\nanticonvulsants, aspirin, and alcohol<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Stroke<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Tumors (cancerous or\nnoncancerous)<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Vestibular migraine (type of\nmigraine headache)<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>How I came to know that I have\nvertigo?<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Vertigo is often triggered by a\nchange in the position of head. Vertigo is being described by following\nfeelings:-<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Spinning<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Tilting<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Swaying<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Unbalanced<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Pulled to one direction<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Other symptoms that accompany\nvertigo are:-<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Feeling nauseated<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Vomiting<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Abnormal or jerking eye\nmovements<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Headache<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Sweating<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Hearing loss or ringing in the\nears<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Can\nvertigo kill you?<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Vertigo can be caused by\nproblems in the brain or central nervous system. While vertigo is not\nlife-threatening but it can be an extreme inconvenience. In addition to feeling\ndizzy, it can also cause nausea and vomiting.&nbsp; However it can be treated.\nTherefore treatment is necessary to cure vertigo.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>How\ncan I treat Vertigo?<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Treatment for vertigo depends\nupon what\u2019s causing it. In many cases vertigo does not need any treatment. But\nfor some treatment is needed and may include:-<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Vestibular rehabilitation: &#8211;\nThis is aimed at helping strengthen the vestibular system. It is a type of\nphysical therapy .The function of the vestibular system is to send signals to\nthe brain about head and body.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Canalith repositioning maneuvers:-This\ninvolves a series of specific head and body movements.The movements are done to\nmove the calcium deposits out of the canal into an inner ear chamber so they\ncan be absorbed by the body. You will likely have vertigo symptoms during the\nprocedure as the Canalith move.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Medicine. In some cases,\nmedication may be given to relieve symptoms such as nausea or motion sickness\nassociated with vertigo.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Stress Management: &#8211; Sometimes\nvertigo can be triggered by stress.Developing coping strategies to navigate\nstressful circumstances could decrease your episodes of vertigo.Deep breathing\ntechniques are an efficient way to relieve symptoms.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Adequate amount of sleep: &#8211;\nVertigo can also be triggered by sleep deprivation.So getting sufficient amount\nof sleep may help.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Vitamin D- If you are thinking\nthat there is something you are not getting in your diet, then you are right.\nYou need to take vitamin D a study found which helps you to relieve vertigo\nsymptoms.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>It is a complex symptom that needs to be treated on time. Vertigo can cause inconvenience if not treated on time. The balance may fall off which is a problematic condition. You need not worry about it.
